Catching Some Air - Aviation Photography

It's not often that I have extra time these days, but every once in a while a few minutes pop up. Now, pair that with the right location and photographic fun ensues. Take these for example. I had some time to burn on a recent trip to Alaska waiting for a late-night return flight out of Anchorage where there is a publicly accessible area just past the end of the runway - similar to Gravely Point at DCA. Photography Lessons: Cherry Blossoms 2013 - Excursion #1

Although the cherry blossoms were not yet in bloom, last Saturday was an amazing day for sunrise photography. I took a group of five to the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC, to explore composition and exposure. It was a great group and a spectacular sunrise.

I plan to take another group down next Saturday to work on composition and depth of field now that the cherry blossoms are actually blooming. So, check back next week for more pics.
