Catching Some Air - Aviation Photography

It's not often that I have extra time these days, but every once in a while a few minutes pop up. Now, pair that with the right location and photographic fun ensues. Take these for example. I had some time to burn on a recent trip to Alaska waiting for a late-night return flight out of Anchorage where there is a publicly accessible area just past the end of the runway - similar to Gravely Point at DCA. Night Photography: Harpers Ferry

It is incredibly difficult to see progress in ourselves. Like watching a flower grow. Everyday it looks the same until one day it shows a bud. And then a flower. Still, each day appears as the last. But, look at that same flower once a month or once a week and the changes are obvious.

The same is true as we develop our skills, abilities, or artistry. Find someone who notices the progress in you and helps you to see it.

Like comparing the first photograph you shot with the one you shot today. Forgive the sophomoric analogy, but it can be like clarity of a clear night sky.

Okay, forget the philosophy. Here's some pictures. A series of night shots in the ruins of a church in Harpers Ferry. (All shots are hand held.)
